WEST BENGAL PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION has announced notification for recruitment to the posts of lower division assistant or lower division clerk and posts similar to that of lower division assistant or lower division
clerk in the Secretariat, Directorates, District offices of all over West Bengal.
SCALE OF PAY
Pay Level 6,
Rs. 22700 to – Rs. 58500/- As per ROPA,2019
Besides pay, the posts carry allowances as admissible.
ELIGIBILITY
- QUALIFICATIONS Pass in Madhyamik examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
- Acquisition of elementary knowledge in Computer operation with ability of typing on computer at the speed of 20 (twenty) words per minute in English or 10 (ten) words per minute in Bengali.
AGE LIMIT
Candidates should not be neighther below 18 years nor more than 40 years old as on 01.01.2023 (i.e., born not earlier than 2nd January, 1983 and not later than 1st January, 2005) and age recorded only on the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted.
AGE RELAXATION
The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for S.C. & S.T. Candidates of West Bengal and by 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of W.B. In the case of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) the upper age is relaxable upto 45 years. No relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC candidates of other States as they shall be treated as General Candidates.
N.B.: Candidates should apply in reservation quota at the time of application-no claim for being a member of S.C./S.T./O.B.C. (Non-creamy Layer) or a person with Benchmark disability or a meritorious sportsperson will be entertained after submission of the application.

Only SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) having physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee.

TIE BREAKING PRINCIPLES:
- Preference will be given to the candidate securing higher aggregate marks in English & Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali.
- If there is still a tie, preference will be given to the candidate securing higher marks in English.
- If tie still remains, preference will be given to the candidate with higher age.
DEDUCTION OF MARKS:
There shall be negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer to multiple choice questions (MCQ Type) which will also be printed on the top of Question Booklet of Part-I (Objective Type) examination.
CATEGORYWISE QUALIFYING MARKS
The Commission has decided the following category wise qualifying marks in aggregate which will be comprised of marks obtained in Part-I & Part-II examination together

However The Commission will have the liberty of further relaxing qualifying marks if needed.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION
There shall be no ‘Edit Window’ after closure of online submission of application. The applicants are advised to verify the details provided in the online application form very carefully. They are advised to identify incorrect entry, if any and edit the same. It may be noted that once ’Final Submission’ button is clicked, the system will not allow editing of any field further. No request for any correction/change would be entertained after submission of Application Form.
